Information regarding Pupil Premium Funding 2017-18
The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the Department for Education to enhance the education of children who have the highest levels of deprivation. At Milestone Academy we receive Pupil Premium for pupils entitled to free school meals and for any pupils who have had free school meals at any time within the last 6 years. Additionally, our pupils who are Children in Care are entitled to Pupil Premium Plus funding along with any children adopted from Local Authority Care.
We are funded at the following rate:
£1,320 per pupil of primary- school age
£935 per pupil of secondary- school age
£1,900 per pupil for looked-after children who:
Have been looked after for 1 day or more
Leave care under a Special Guardianship Order or a Residency Order
At Milestone Academy we believe that every pupil can and will make progress and that deprivation should never be a barrier to their learning. We set the most challenging targets for every Child, and all our pupils are valued, challenged and supported to make sustained academic and personal progress.
In common with other Special schools, Milestone Academy recognises that the majority of its pupils face barriers to learning far greater than those imposed by financial deprivation. Due to their needs all pupils at Milestone are very vulnerable. We strive to ensure that Pupil Premium funding is used to narrow gaps in achievement by whatever means necessary. However, we also believe it is appropriate to use the funding to support other pupils who have significant areas of vulnerability, where this can be achieved in tandem with the provision made for Pupil Premium pupils.
We will review the effectiveness of our expenditure for Pupil Premium Pupils in July 2018, and annually.
