Between 4th – 8th March, Milestone Academy celebrated National Storytelling Week and World Book Day. Classes from across the main site and all three satellites arranged and took part in a variety of events and activities to celebrate storytelling and a love of reading. Students experienced and delivered sensory stories to their peers and other classes, took stories outside of the classroom and around the school and put in a fantastic effort with their World Book Day fancy dress outfits. Our satellites, Milestone @ The Star and The Leigh met up for a morning of reading and sharing stories and Milestone @ Wilmington took part in the Wilmington Academy’s Japanese Matsuri themed World Book Day competition, coming 5th out of the 57 tutor groups! Throughout the week, phases also took part in a sensory story assembly led by Tim and a signed story by Jamie (members of the SALT team). The students (and staff) really enjoyed joining in with the actions and sensory elements within the assemblies, as well as learning some new signs.
This week was another fantastic example of how students and staff at Milestone Academy work together to celebrate and enjoy learning.
