Students from Milestone @ DPA took part in the Kent School Games Literacy and PE festival at Legends Sports in Gravesend. Students were introduced to the author J T Scott who spoke about her life and experiences which led her to writing all of her books in the Sammy Rambles series. The students took part in a Q and A session with the author and completed some physical activities with students from other schools in the local area.
The students then took part in a creative writing exercise where they had to invent their own Dragon and learnt how to write the beginning, middle and end of a story. There was some excellent creative ideas shown by the group and they enjoyed using these ideas to plan their own story.
After lunch, the group were introduced to the game of Dragonball which appears in the Sammy Rambles books. After learning the rules the group then competed in a Dragonball event against some of the other schools. It was a fantastic event and students enjoyed the creative writing element of the day and the practical side of learning a new sport.
