At Leigh Academy Milestone, wearing school uniform is encouraged from Reception to Year 11. Our uniform helps create a sense of belonging and pride across our whole school community.
Our academy logo reflects our shared identity:
- Royal Blue represents our Primary Phase (Phases 1 & 2)
- Navy Blue represents our Secondary Phase (Phases 3 & 4)
- Gold represents the thread that connects us all as one community
Flexibility and Inclusion
We fully understand that some pupils with physical disabilities and/or sensory needs may require adaptations to their clothing.
In these cases, we will work flexibly with families to ensure pupils are comfortable, confident, and ready to learn, while maintaining the spirit of the uniform policy.
Please note the following exceptions:
- Pupils attending Milestone @ Sir Geoffrey Leigh or Milestone @ Leigh Academy Wilmington will receive separate information regarding the specific uniform or dress code for those settings.
Sixth Form pupils based on the main site may wear clothing appropriate to their daily activities rather than full uniform.
Pupils from Reception to Year 11 are encouraged to wear the following items throughout the year (with the summer dress optional during warmer months):
- Leigh Academy Milestone sweatshirt or cardigan
- Royal blue – for Phases 1 & 2 (Primary)
- Navy blue – for Phases 3 & 4 (Secondary)
- Grey trousers, shorts, or skirt
- Blue gingham summer dress
- White polo shirt, collared shirt, or blouse
- Sensible flat black shoes, trainers, plimsolls, or prescribed footwear
- No sandals or open-toe shoes are permitted for safety reasons.
PE Kit
The PE kit is the encouraged uniform for physical activity and sports lessons. The items listed are suggestions for comfort and safety during exercise.
- Plain blue or black shorts
- White or college colour T shirt
- Tracksuit (black or navy)
- Plimsolls or trainers
Forest School & Horticulture
For these lessons, appropriate clothing such as a puddlesuit, raincoat and wellington boots may be requested.
Other
Offsite visits and other specialist lessons may have their own specific uniform or equipment needs. The teacher will let you know what is required for these activities.
- Jewellery must not be worn except watches.
- Ear-studs are the only item of pierced jewellery that are permitted and must be removed and given to the teacher during PE or swimming lessons as a safety precaution. Your child must be able to do this for themselves and if not they should be removed before coming to school.
- Religious chains may be worn provided they are worn under the shirt.
