Primary - phases 1 & 2

Brook
  • Music provides Brook Pathway Learners a diverse exploration of music in a practical and reflective way. 
  • Exposure to different styles and types of music is important to help Brook students develop their personal likes and dislikes within the subject. 
  • Sensory stories feature heavily within the Brook Pathway; this is a great way for students to engage with music and begin to develop skills through familiar means. 
  • Music Leads and staff stay aware of ILP targets that can also be achieved alongside the Music learning objective.
  • Stream Pathway learners are encouraged to develop and understand their freedom of expression through music. 
  • The lessons are often child-led whilst still having a clear learning objective. 
  • Music Leads and staff are cognisant  of ILP targets that can also be achieved alongside the Music learning objective.
  • River Pathway learners are encouraged to engage in discussion about their lessons.
  • Students here may begin to show a real interest in a specific instrument or style, in this event, Music and class leads will  support this  in line with the lessons or in 1:1 sessions. 
  • River pathways are provided with information that will start to widen their musical vocabulary.
  • Encourage use and the exploration of digital forms of music-making and composing.
  • Waterfall Pathway learners will utilise a culmination of skills, learned in music sessions, in collaboration with peers to produce finished bodies of music and lean into the more advanced applications of music technology. 
  • Using Garageband/Logic Pro X to build beats and songs, and understand the building blocks of music theory. 
  • Learn to critique and analyse music from a variety of time periods and styles.

  • All classes work to a scheme created on charanga that is bespoke to Milestone Academy, while still staying in line with the national curriculum.
