Southern Water gives M@L Students Insight on Water Treatment and Careers

On Tuesday 30th January, students at Milestone@TheLeigh were visited by Southern Water. We learnt about the water treatment process which takes place when water leaves our homes and the problems associated with this due to human activity. Students heard about the ‘3 Ps’ which are the only things which should go down the drains in our homes. We saw some rather gross and real photos of what happens when things like nappies, wet wipes, hair and other items end up in the drains – it wasn’t great! Students had the opportunity to ask the presenter about the path he took to get into this career and also ask questions about his working day. Overall, it was a presentation that neither students nor staff will forget for a long time.
